On the same pAGE: Intergenerational Conversation on Ageism

May 27, 2021 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am MDT

Free

intergenerational conversation 2019 participantsWhat is ageism? Ageism is prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination against people based on their age. It can be directed against younger people and older people.

Researchers at Cornell University found that programs fostering intergenerational connections, combined with education about the aging process and its misconceptions, worked best at reducing ageist attitudes. Collectively, we can challenge our assumptions and end ageism.

How have relationships with people younger and/or older than you shaped your life? In many cultural communities/families, intergenerational relationships are a core value and way of life; for others, it may be less familiar or understood.
We will also have space to get curious about how we’ve been thinking about and telling our story/narratives to ourselves and/or others, and where we might be curious and crafty about telling it in a new way.

Facilitators: Sarah Rimmel and Kris Geerken
