On the same pAGE – Intergenerational Conversation on Ageism

intergenerational conversation 2019 participantsEntitled millennial? Digitally incompetent older people? Why do we allow these stereotypes to persist

Ageism is prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination against people based on their age. It can be directed against younger people (e.g., discounting someone’s ability because of their age) or older people (e.g., assumptions made about someone’s ability to learn a new software platform).

Researchers at Cornell University found that programs fostering intergenerational contact, combined with education about the aging process and its misconceptions, worked best at reducing ageist attitudes. Collectively, we can challenge our assumptions and end ageism.

Changing the Narrative’s On the same pAGE creates the space for productive intergenerational conversations about ageism.

Each person’s stories and experiences bring value to the group dialogue. We encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to join us so we can get the most out of the discussion. The goal is to bring generations together to challenge our biases about age and discover new perspectives.
